노량진 지하 배수로

💡 개요

경인선 개통 이전인 1890년대에 축조된 서울에서 가장 오래된 배수로를 시민이 직접 걸어볼 수 있는 공간이다. 노량진 지하 배수로는 2008년부터 2011년까지 진행된 동작구 침수 해소 사업 과정에서 발견된 하수암거로, 정밀 안전 진단과 보수를 거쳐 2022년 5월 시민에게 개방됐다. 폭 2.5m 높이 3.3m 총 길이 92m 규모의 배수로는 5개 구간으로 나뉘어, 1890년대 최초 매설 구간부터 1960년대 경부선 복선화 구간, 1970년대 수도권 전철화 구간이 공존해 약 120년에 걸친 서울 근대 하수관로 역사를 한눈에 살펴볼 수 있다. 2구간의 말굽형 벽돌 아치는 대한제국 시기의 배수로 형태를 볼 수 있는 국내 유일한 사례로 평가받는다. 입구에서 내려가면 근대 철도 역사와 노량진의 변천사를 담은 영상 전시 공간이 이어지며, 출구 엘리베이터는 노량진 수산시장과 바로 연결된다.

이화벽화마을

💡 개요

이화벽화마을은 혜화역과 동대문역 사이의 낙산공원 밑에 위치한 마을로 2006년 ‘공공미술추진위원회’에서 소외지역 생활환경 개선의 일환으로 70여 명의 작가가 참여한 ‘낙산프로젝트’가 추진된 곳이다. 이화동은 ‘낙산프로젝트’가 진행되고 방송 매체에 여러 번 소개된 후 시민들이 찾는 명소가 되었다. 이화벽화마을은 과거와 현재가 공존하는 골목길과, 오랜 세월 터를 닦고 살아온 사람들의 진솔한 삶의 모습이 잘 녹아들어 있는 곳이자 벽화마을 관광지로 사랑을 받아 왔다.

흥인지문에서 출발해 낙산 능선을 따라 한양도성 성벽을 옆에 두고 걸으면 서울 도심의 현재와 600년 전 과거가 한 시야에 들어온다. 종로둘레길 3코스는 흥인지문공원을 시작으로 한양도성박물관·낙산성곽서길·낙산공원 광장·장수마을을 거쳐 혜화문에 이르는 종로구 대표 도심 도보 코스다. 내사산 중 가장 낮은 낙산(해발 124m)의 완만한 능선을 따라 경사 부담 없이 걸을 수 있어 남녀노소 누구나 즐기기 좋으며, 성곽 안팎을 오가며 조선시대 축조 시기별로 달라지는 성돌의 모양도 살펴볼 수 있다. 낙산 정상 놀이마당 인근에서 하산하는 구간에는 예술가들의 아기자기한 벽화와 조형물이 가득한 이화벽화마을이 자리하며, 마을 상단부 카페거리에서는 남산과 서울 도심 전경을 바라보며 쉬어갈 수 있다. 이화동·대학로·동대문과 연계해 종로 도심 반나절 코스로 즐기기 좋다.
